‘On Tour’

Like all good social sides the tour is the highlight of many a season but, sadly, tour rules mean that “what goes on tour stays on tour” (but if you read the match reports from the most recent seasons you might get some clues …). We undertook only ‘occasional’ tours in the formative and less certain years but have set out from the shores of Cardiff every year since 1993. 

1978-1984: No tours

1985: Alderley Edge. Lost to North West Post Office – no details available

1986: No tour

1987: Shrewsbury. Lost to Llanfyllin - no details available

1988-1989: No tours

1990-1992: No tours

1993: Worcester. Catherine-de-Barnes 192–5 dec (Stevens 3-46). Cavaliers 124 (Haines 52). Lost by 68 runs

1994: Worcester. Cavaliers 55 (18 ovs). Much Markle 56-6 (17.1 ovs) (Carter 3-8). Lost by 4 wickets

1995: Cheltenham. Cowley 217 (44.1 ovs) (Carter 3-24, Brown 3-45). Cavaliers 196 (47 ovs) (Moore 56). Lost by 21 runs

2nd match: Shurdington 218-4 dec (43 ovs) (Wright 3-47). Cavaliers 95 (27 ovs). Lost by 123 runs

1996: Isle of Wight.  Cavaliers 207-2 dec (42 ovs) (Armstrong 61, Griffiths 53, Carter 51no). St James 98 (34.2ovs) (Stevens 3-15, Wright 3-5, Lewis 3-15).  Won by 109 runs

1997: Weston Super Mare. Cavaliers 162-7 (40 ovs) (Moore 58). Uphill Castle 163-3 (28 ovs). Lost by 7 wickets.

2^nd match: Wookey Indians rained off

1998: Newcastle. County CC rained off

1999: Cheltenham. Newnham upon Severn rained off

2000: Cheltenham. Cavaliers 154-8 (40 ovs) (Adams 76). Duntisbourne Abbott 90 (25 ovs) (Bowen 3-17). Won by 64 runs

2nd match: Cavaliers 142-9 (40 ovs). Newnham upon Severn 143-3 (30.5 ovs). Lost by 7 wickets

2001: Carmarthen. Llansteffan and Carmarthen both rained off

2002: Carmarthen. Llansteffan 105 (22.4 ovs) (Poulsom 3-18). Cavaliers 76 (28 ovs). Lost by 29 runs 

2nd match: Cavaliers 143-7 (30 ovs). Drefach 144-1 (21 ovs). Lost by 9 wickets

2003: Chester. South Northants & Leicester Engineers 186-6 (40 ovs) (Brown 4-33). Cavaliers 173-8 (40 ovs) (Hutchings 81, Armstrong 42). Lost by 13 runs

2nd match: Boughton Hall 181-5 (40 ovs) (Simpson 2-35, Newbury 2-38). Cavaliers 182-3 (33.4 ovs) (Armstrong 68no, R Davies 44). Won by 7 wickets

2006: Bournemouth. Cavaliers 247-6 (Hutchings 61, Armstrong 57). Wareham 173 (28.2 ovs) (Sparkes 2-9, Armstrong 2-13).  Won by 74 runs

2nd match: Cavaliers 186-9 (35 ovs) (Hutchings 52, Adams 35). Failand & Portbury 190-2 (Adams 1-25, Simpson 1-32). Lost by 8 wickets

2007. Haverfordwest. Ynystawe 266-4 dec (33 ovs) (D Parsons 2-18, Chapman 1-20). Cavaliers 200-9 (43 ovs) (D Parsons 70, Chapman 45). Match drawn
