Team announcement v Welsh Blood Service, Tuesday 27 July announced below

Make sure you're familiar with availability/selection

Check back each week for news of team selections, directions, drivers & lifts, and other useful information. Please email us if your availability changes.

Team "mechanics": During the course of a season, we aim for everyone to have the same opportunity in terms of team selection, 12th man and reserve duties, collecting match fees, scoring, umpiring and managing the kit bag.

Availability: selection is based on players' availability sheets. There's a new way of managing availability and selection for 2009 and the responsibility rests with you to make sure the selection panel know of any changes. Click here for more information. when you are available, are away on holiday or with work, or are unfit (and, of course, when you are fit again).

12th man: click here for details - we try to have a "12th man" for each match to help with important tasks such as ensuring the scoreboard is kept up-to-date, rotating the umpires when we are batting, ensuring the kit is all bagged up at the end of the game, and so on.  If another player is unable to start the game or becomes injured the 12th man takes their place. The 12th man is then automatically selected for the next game for which he is available and, over the course of the season, it is likely that everyone will do a stint.

Reserves: changes to work commitments or domestic arrangements sometimes mean an original selection cannot then play.  Wherever possible, we try to get 1, 2 or 3 reserves who are available for the game but are not in the original run-on team.  Players listed as reserves are asked not to make other arrangements as there is a strong possibility that they may be called upon by the time match day comes round.  Reserves who don't get a game are generally selected at the next available opportunity.

Kit bag: We are grateful to Jeremy Sparkes who looks after the kit over the winter but during the season the bags need to be taken home by those who are playing in the next game. Again, we look to everyone to play their part in sharing this around.
